Weaving More Than Fabric—Weaving a Movement
At Radical Weavers, we believe that weaving is more than just a craft. It’s a way to connect, empower, and create change. Every thread on our looms carries a deeper story—of heritage, identity, and community—and our mission is to keep those stories alive through ethical weaving, sustainable textiles, and meaningful social impact.
We don’t just weave cloth—we weave opportunities, inclusion, and belonging. As a social enterprise, our work supports local artisans, young LGBTQ+ individuals, neurodiverse people, and anyone seeking a creative space where they can truly be themselves.
So, what does Radical Weavers stand for? Craft. Community. Change.
Craft: Honouring the Art of Ethical Weaving
Weaving is one of the oldest human traditions—a skill passed down through generations, carrying the stories of people, places, and cultures. But in today’s fast-fashion world, this slow, intentional craft is at risk of being lost.
Sustainable textiles
We prioritise natural, ethical materials that are made to last, reducing waste and embracing slow fashion.

We believe in quality over quantity, in resisting the throwaway culture of modern textile production, and in keeping craftsmanship alive for future generations.
Community: Weaving a Space for Everyone
For us, weaving is more than just fabric—it’s a way to bring people together. Our workshops, commissions, and projects are designed to create safe, welcoming spaces where everyone, regardless of background, can experience the joy of making something with their hands.
At Radical Weavers, we pride ourselves on:
💜 Supporting young LGBTQ+ individuals – We believe craft can be a powerful tool for self-expression and identity. Many of the young LGBTQ+ people we work with have found comfort, connection, and confidence through weaving.
🧠 Championing neurodiversity in craft – Traditional learning methods don’t work for everyone, and our approach to weaving embraces different ways of thinking and creating. We provide a sensory-friendly, supportive environment where neurodiverse individuals can thrive.
🤝 Being accessible and inclusive – We are committed to making weaving available to all, regardless of experience, ability, or background. No previous knowledge is required—just curiosity and a willingness to explore!
By choosing to support Radical Weavers, you’re not just investing in handcrafted textiles—you’re investing in a community that uplifts, includes, and celebrates diversity.
Change: Weaving a Future That’s Ethical and Sustainable
Weaving has always been radical—from the early Scottish weavers resisting industrialisation to today’s artisans challenging the dominance of mass production. At Radical Weavers, we believe in weaving a better future—one that prioritises ethical production, sustainability, and fair opportunities.
Ethical Weaving, Not Exploitation
This is a new Text block. Change the text.
Textile production is one of the most exploitative industries in the world. Fast fashion relies on low wages, unsustainable materials, and mass production at the cost of people and the planet.
We do things differently:
✔ Fair pay for skilled work – Every piece we create is valued for the time, labour, and artistry that goes into it.
✔ Supporting independent artisans – We work with local weavers, ensuring that traditional skills aren’t lost.
✔ Slow fashion, not fast fashion – We make textiles that last a lifetime, not just a season.
Sustainability at Every Step
🌱 Using sustainable, responsibly sourced fibres – wool, linen, and natural dyes that don’t harm the environment.
♻️ Minimising waste – Every scrap of yarn is used, repurposed, or recycled.
🌍 Encouraging conscious consumption – We encourage people to invest in textiles that are meaningful, durable, and made with integrity.
